Supplies need for Stack and Whack
The supplies need for this
project, are pretty basic.
1.
A Rotary
Cutter with a new blade, a 45-mmor larger. You will
be cutting through several layers at one time.
2.
A Self-healing rotary cutting
mat, at least 17” x 23”is best.
3.
A Ruler. You will
need one with a straight edge and you can also use the ones for wedges and
triangles. But for our project we will be using wedges cut from freezer paper.
4.
Template-making
material. In this case, we will use freezer paper.
5.
Glue stick
6.
A drinking glass, this will be
explained in part 3.
7.
Iron and ironing board
8.
Starch or spray sizing, I prefer
starch
9.
Flower head pins, other will
work. Don’t run out and buy some just for this project.
A design
wall comes in handy for arranging your blocks on, but is not necessary,
Although, I can’t live without one.
PREPARING YOUR TEMPLATES
This is the size of the template that I will
be using. If you prefer to use another size, or a wedge ruler, feel free to do
so. This wedge measures 3. 5 inches across the top and ¾ inch
across the bottom. It is 9 inches long.
I use
freezer paper for these wedges, drawing several sets of them to work with.
Before
you go to part 3, I want to remind you that all the directions for this fan
block are done the way I make them. I usually break lots of rules, but this way
works for me and I hope it will work for you also. Remember, there are no Quilt
Police in this Guild!
