Stack and Whack Class
Stack-n-Whack is simple ways to create quilt blocks with unique kaleidoscope designs. These designs require a set of identical pieces cut from a print fabric. Rather than finding and cutting each piece individually, you can cut and layer a number of large, identical print rectangles to make a stack. The number of pieces in your stack is determined by how many pieces you need for the pattern. For example, if you are making an 8-pointed star, you will need 8 pieces of fabric stacked identically. Each triangle, diamond, or wedge cut from the stack produces a block kit, a set of identical pieces that will create the kaleidoscope effect for one block. The number of these block kits needed is determined by the size of the quilt you would like to make.
During this class you will be learning how to make the Grandmothers Fan. I have chosen to use the 18-degree wedge for this class, you may use whatever size wedge you prefer. This is very easy, 4 straight seams and your fan unit is complete. It is then ready to appliquéd or machine stitched to a background fabric.
